A group of boys and girls from Mali dream of being great basketball stars and lifting their families out of poverty to give them a better life. In front of them, the greatest challenge of their lives: the U-17 world championship held in Spain. The country, at war and with a jihadist presence in the north, has other more urgent priorities to attend to than the needs of Malian youth, affected by demotivation, low-level education and alarming numbers of youth unemployment. Basketball is for them the escape route, the only way not to lose hope.
