Cheick Diallo went from living at home in a rural area in western Mali to playing in the NBA, the best basketball league in the world. As a child, the other children laughed at him because he was too tall to play soccer. His father pushed him to try basketball, and five years later he landed in New York without a return ticket. The road was hard: adaptation, language, culture. But Cheick was breaking through barriers on an incredible journey that has finally led to him becoming the second Malian to make his NBA debut. Now in his sophomore year, he wants to show the New Orleans Pelicans that he's here to stay.
